Tips:

  • Choose the right ham: Opt for a deli ham that is thinly sliced and has a mild flavor. This will ensure that the ham doesn't overpower the other ingredients in the buns.
  • Use fresh cheese: Grated cheddar or mozzarella cheese works best in this recipe. Avoid using pre-shredded cheese, as it doesn't melt as well.
  • Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing the dough will result in tough buns. Mix the dough just until it comes together, then let it rest for a few minutes before shaping.
  • Proof the dough properly: Proofing the dough allows it to rise and develop flavor. Make sure to proof the dough in a warm place for at least 30 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
  • Bake the buns until golden brown: The buns are done baking when they are golden brown on top and sound hollow when tapped.

Conclusion:

These baked ham and cheese buns are a delicious and easy-to-make snack or meal. They are perfect for parties, potlucks, or simply enjoying at home.
