5 medium onions, sliced and separated into rings
3 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup water
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 can (5 ounces) evaporated milk
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons dry bread crumbs

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, saute onions in butter for 5 minutes. Add water and allspice; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until tender., Combine flour and evaporated milk until smooth; gradually stir into the onion mixture. 2 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 tablespoons flour
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup grated pecorino romano cheese or 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8-1/4 teaspoon cayenne, to taste
2 tablespoons breadcrumbs

Steps:
