Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: Use firm, tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. These apples hold their shape well and won't turn to mush when baked.
  • Core the apples carefully: Use an apple corer to remove the core without cutting through the bottom of the apple. This will help prevent the apples from falling apart when baked.
  • Use a generous amount of honey: The honey will help to caramelize the apples and give them a delicious, sweet flavor. You can also use maple syrup or brown sugar if you prefer.
  • Add some spices: A sprinkle of cinnamon, nutmeg, or ginger will help to enhance the flavor of the apples. You can also add a pinch of salt to balance out the sweetness of the honey.
  • Top the apples with almonds: The almonds will add a nice crunch and nutty flavor to the apples. You can also use chopped walnuts or pecans if you prefer.
  • Bake the apples until they are tender: The apples should be tender enough to easily pierce with a fork, but they should not be mushy. The baking time will vary depending on the type of apples you use and the size of the apples.

Conclusion:

Baked apples with honey and almonds are a delicious and easy-to-make dessert. They are perfect for a weeknight treat or a special occasion. Serve them warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
