  • 5. Bake at 350F for 45-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • 6. Cool in skillet.

Tips:

  • Mise en place: Before you start baking, make sure you have all of your ingredients and equipment ready to go. This will help you stay organized and avoid any scrambling.
  • Follow the recipe carefully: Bahamian homemade bread is a relatively simple recipe, but it's important to follow the instructions carefully. Don't skip any steps or substitute ingredients, as this could affect the final product.
  • Use fresh ingredients: The fresher your ingredients, the better your bread will taste. If possible, use organic or locally-sourced ingredients.
  • Knead the dough properly: Kneading the dough is an important step in the bread-making process. It helps to develop the gluten in the flour, which gives the bread its structure and elasticity. Knead the dough for at least 5 minutes, or until it is smooth and elastic.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place: The dough needs to rise in a warm place in order to double in size. This can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. If your kitchen is too cold, you can place the dough in a warm oven (turned off) or in a warm spot near a sunny window.
  • Bake the bread in a preheated oven: Make sure your oven is preheated to the correct temperature before you bake the bread. This will help to ensure that the bread bakes evenly.

Conclusion:

Bahamian homemade bread is a delicious and versatile bread that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's also a great way to use up leftover flour and yeast. With a little planning and effort, you can easily make this bread at home. So what are you waiting for? Give it a try!
