BACON WRAPPED SAUSAGE MEATLOAF

Bacon Wrapped Sausage Meatloaf image

A different way of using sausages and a recipe from the Good Food Magazine from 2000, we love it and I made this many times. Serve sliced with some mustard, chutney or roasted onion gravy on the side. Any left overs are good on sandwiches. You can put it together up to a day ahead, leaf in the fridge until you are ready to cook it. It can be cooked without the tin, on a baking sheet and can easily be doubled. Adjust the seasoning to the type of sausagemeat you bought.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality ingredients: Use good quality bacon and sausage for the best flavor. Look for bacon that is thick-cut and smoked, and sausage that is made with fresh, ground pork.
  • Don't overcook the bacon: Cook the bacon until it is crispy but not burnt. Burnt bacon will have a bitter taste.
  • Use a variety of fillings: Don't just stick to cheese and jalapeños. Try different fillings, such as sauerkraut, mushrooms, or onions.
  • Cook the sausage thoroughly: Make sure the sausage is cooked through before serving. You can check this by inserting a meat thermometer into the center of the sausage. The internal temperature should be 160°F (71°C).
  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce: Bacon-wrapped sausage is delicious on its own, but it's even better with a dipping sauce. Try serving it with ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauce, or ranch dressing.

Conclusion:

Bacon-wrapped sausage is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main course. It's perfect for parties, potlucks, or game day gatherings. With a few simple tips, you can make sure your bacon-wrapped sausage is cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. So fire up your grill or oven and give this recipe a try!
