NO-COOK PIZZA SAUCE

No-Cook Pizza Sauce image

I've tried several pizza sauce recipes with no luck finding anything my family likes. But then I came across this recipe from New Orleans restaurant critic, Tom Fitzmorris. Although the recipe calls for canned Italian tomatoes, I prefer sliced fresh Italian plum tomatoes. Yum! Canned is fine though if that's all you have on hand.

Provided by MSnow

Categories     Sauces

Time 20m

Yield 3 cups of sauce

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (28 ounce) can whole peeled Italian tomatoes
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons chopped garlic
6 leaves fresh basil
6 sprigs flat-leaf Italian parsley, chopped
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt (I like Kosher salt)

Steps:

  • [Skip this step if you're using fresh tomatoes] Mix and semi-puree all ingredients in a food processor for about 20 seconds. 'It may seem a little too runny, but trust me--it works!'-Tom Fitzmorris.
  • If you're using fresh tomatoes, just slice and place evenly on top of crust, brush them with the olive oil, and sprinkle the next 6 ingredients over the tomatoes.
  • Now pile on your favorite toppings and bake. That's it!

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh, ripe tomatoes and flavorful herbs will make a big difference in the taste of your sauce.
  • Don't overcook the sauce: Overcooked sauce will lose its fresh flavor and become bland.
  • Season to taste: Add salt, pepper, and other seasonings to taste until the sauce is perfectly balanced.
  • Let the sauce rest: Letting the sauce rest for a few minutes before using will allow the flavors to meld and develop.
  • Use the sauce in a variety of dishes: Pizza sauce is not just for pizza! Try it on pasta, chicken, fish, or vegetables.

Conclusion:

This no-cook pizza sauce is a quick and easy way to add flavor to your favorite dishes. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a delicious sauce that is perfect for pizza, pasta, or anything else you can think of. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy way to add flavor to your food, give this no-cook pizza sauce a try.
