We like the sauce for my brisket over elk, moose and venison salami as well. And we also use it to spice hamburgers and hot dogs we sizzle on the grill. -Jacque Watkins, Green River, Wyoming

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of beef brisket. Brisket is a tough cut of meat, so it's important to choose one that will benefit from the long, slow cooking process. Look for a brisket that is well-marbled with fat, as this will help keep the meat moist and flavorful.
  • Sear the brisket before braising it. Searing the brisket will help develop its flavor and create a nice crust. To sear the brisket, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the brisket and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until browned. Remove the brisket from the skillet and set aside.
  • Use a flavorful braising liquid. The braising liquid is what will give the brisket its flavor, so it's important to use one that is flavorful and aromatic. Some good options include beef broth, red wine, beer, or a mixture of these liquids. You can also add vegetables, herbs, and spices to the braising liquid to enhance its flavor.
  • Cook the brisket low and slow. Brisket is a tough cut of meat, so it needs to be cooked low and slow in order to become tender. The best way to do this is to braise the brisket in a covered pot in a preheated oven. Cook the brisket for at least 3 hours, or until it is fall-apart tender.
  • Let the brisket rest before serving. Once the brisket is cooked, let it rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, making it more flavorful and tender.

Conclusion:

Aunt Jinny's Tangy Beef Brisket is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a special occasion or a weeknight meal. The brisket is cooked low and slow in a flavorful braising liquid, resulting in a tender and flavorful dish that will surely impress your guests.
