Time 1h

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (8 ounce) package wide egg noodles
1 ½ pounds sweet Italian sausage, sliced
¾ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter, melted
4 apples - peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter, cut into pieces

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Fill a large pot with lightly salted water and bring to a rolling boil over high heat. Once the water is boiling, stir in the egg noodles, and return to a boil. Cook the pasta uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the pasta has cooked through, but is still firm to the bite, about 5 minutes. Drain well in a colander set in the sink.
  • Place a large skillet over medium-high heat; cook the sausages until completely cooked, 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Stir together the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  • Pour the melted butter into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish; layer half of the cooked egg noodles into the bottom of the dish; top with half of the sausage slices and half of the apple slices; sprinkle about half of the cinnamon-sugar mix over the dish. Repeat layers with remaining noodles, sausage, apples, and cinnamon-sugar. Dot with the butter pieces.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the apples are soft, 30 to 45 minutes.

Time 50m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 cups noodles, cooked and drained
2 apples, peeled and sliced
1 dash cinnamon
4 tablespoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Place half of the noodles and apples in a buttered baking dish.
  • Sprinkle with half the brown sugar and a dash of cinnamon.
  • Dot with half the butter, repeat.
  • Cover and bake 30 minutes.
  • Stir well before serving (or, leave uncovered toward the end of baking to give the top a nice crunchy texture).

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: For this dish, it's best to use a firm, tart apple that will hold its shape when cooked. Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn are all good choices.
  • Use high-quality noodles: Fresh, homemade noodles will give you the best results. If you're using dried noodles, be sure to cook them according to the package directions.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When cooking the noodles, be sure to give them enough space to move around so that they cook evenly.
  • Cook the noodles until they are tender but still have a little bit of a bite to them: Overcooked noodles will be mushy and unpleasant to eat.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment: This dish is a great opportunity to get creative with your ingredients. Try adding different spices, herbs, or vegetables to the mix.

Conclusion:

Apples and noodles is a classic dish that is both delicious and easy to make. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a meal that is sure to please everyone at the table. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give this recipe a try.
