Godfather's Streusel Dessert Pizza Recipe - (4.2/5) image

Provided by kayjayjohnson

Number Of Ingredients 13

Pizza dough
1 TBSP butter, melted (or 1 TBSP oil)
Cinnamon
Streusel (makes enough mix for 3 pizzas)
1/2 cup plus 1/3 cup bread flour
1/3 cup white sugar
1/8 cup brown sugar
2 TBSP solid shortening
2 TBSP olive oil
Icing
1/2 - 3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 TBSP water
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Steps:

  • Mix together streusel ingredients with a pastry knife, then side aside. To make pizza, pat dough into a 12 inch pie pan that has been sprayed with oil, then brush with 1 TBSP melted butter. Sprinkle cinnamon all around buttered crust. Top pizza crust with 1/2 - 3/4 cup streusel mix (freeze remaining streusel mix for another pizza). Bake at 460 F for 8 to 9 minutes depending on the thickness of the pizza. Cover with aluminum foil halfway through to keep streusel from burning. Mix icing ingredients until it is of a drizzle consistency. If it is too thick, then thin with a small amount of water until you have reached your desired thinness. When finished baking, top with icing in a circular pinwheel pattern. I usually ice the pizza with a sandwich bag with the end cut off.

SO EASY AND TASTY APPLE STREUSEL

So Easy and Tasty Apple Streusel image

"Crisp fall apples, tossed in cinnamon and baked with delicious streusel. Almost as good as pie, with half the calories and it's in the oven in 10 minutes! Plus, it can be served warm with ice cream, and the smaller size means it won't be there to tempt you later. Enough for a small mini casserole dish that will serve 3-4 people. Double the recipe for an 8x8 pan, quadruple it for a 9x13 pan". Unless you double the batch and use a bigger pan, in which case, it's a great breakfast topping for oatmeal! Enjoy! Adapted from Penzey's spices and the intro is what they said about the recipe. A little history: In baking and pastry making, the term streusel (a German word meaning "something scattered or sprinkled", from the verb streuen, akin to the English verb 'strew') refers to a crumb topping of butter, flour, and white sugar (traditional German) that is baked on top of muffins, breads, and cakes (e.g. Streuselkuchen). Some modern recipes add various spices and occasionally chopped nutmeats. Although the topping is of German origin, it is sometimes referred to as Danish or Swedish.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of apples. This will give your pizza a more complex flavor and texture. Some good choices include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn apples.
  • Slice the apples thinly. This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from becoming mushy.
  • Don't overcrowd the pizza. Leave some space between the apple slices so that they can cook properly.
  • Bake the pizza until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender. This will usually take about 20-25 minutes.
  • Serve the pizza warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Conclusion:

Apple streusel dessert pizza is a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. It's a great way to use up leftover apples, and it's also a fun and festive dessert to serve at parties. With its sweet and tangy filling, crunchy streusel topping, and flaky crust, this pizza is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
