APPLE PIE MOONSHINE RECIPE - (3.8/5)

Steps:
- This recipe comes together very quickly. Simply combine the cinnamon sticks, apple cider, and apple juice in the large stock pot. Bring it all to a mild simmer and add in the sugars. Continue to stir slowly for about five to ten minutes until all the sugar is dissolved. At that point, turn the heat off and allow the apple cider mixture to cool down to room temperature. Allow it several hours to reach a lower temperature. If you add in the alcohol too soon, the higher temperature will evaporate some of the alcohol content. Once the mixture is at room temperature, stir in the bottle of Everclear and one to two cups of rum. At this point, you are ready to jar the apple pie moonshine in the mason jars. Don't be afraid to put a cinnamon stick in the jars either. As the apple pie moonshine ages, the cinnamon and sugar blends out the alcohol taste to an almost undetectable level. Again...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Steps:
- In a cocktail shaker, combine apple pie moonshine, apple juice, cinnamon simple syrup, and lemon juice. Fill shaker 2/3 full of ice. Stir for 10-15 seconds to chill drink. Strain ice. Serve cocktail with new ice. Garnish with sliced apples and cinnamon sticks. Cinnamon Simple Syrup: In a medium sauce pot, add water, sugar, and cinnamon sticks. Set over medium heat and bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Cover pot and let mixture steep for 30 minutes. Strain out cinnamon sticks. Allow cinnamon simple syrup to cool to room temperature. Transfer to an airtight container and store in the fridge until ready to use. Keeps in the fridge for 2 weeks.
Tips:
- Use a variety of apples for a more complex flavor. Some good options include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn.
- Peel and slice the apples thinly so that they will cook evenly.
- Add a bit of lemon juice to the apples to prevent them from browning.
- Use a good quality moonshine. A clear, unflavored moonshine will work best.
- Sweeten the moonshine to taste. You can use sugar, honey, or maple syrup.
- Add spices to the moonshine for extra flavor. Some good options include cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
- Let the moonshine sit for at least 2 weeks before drinking to allow the flavors to meld.
Conclusion:
Apple pie moonshine is a delicious and easy-to-make liqueur that is perfect for any occasion. It is a great way to use up extra apples and it also makes a great gift.
