I've been making this recipe for over 20 years! The autumn season just wouldn't be the same without it. A generous scoop of this dessert with vanilla ice cream on top is a heavenly delight. Peaches can used instead of apples. Either way, a favorite with our family.

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples. For this recipe, a firm, tart apple like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp is best. These apples will hold their shape and provide a nice contrast to the sweet crumble topping.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing will make the crumble topping tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Use cold butter. Cold butter will help to create a flaky, tender crumble topping. If you don't have time to chill the butter, you can freeze it for 15 minutes before using.
  • Bake the crumble until it is golden brown and bubbly. This will ensure that the topping is cooked through and the apples are tender.
  • Serve the crumble warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. This will help to balance out the sweetness of the crumble and add a creamy, rich flavor.

Conclusion:

Apple crunch a la mode is a classic dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and always a hit with guests. With its sweet and tangy apples, flaky crumble topping, and creamy ice cream, this dessert is sure to please everyone at your table.
