1 1/2 cups walnuts
8 ounces sweet Italian sausage, casings removed
2 celery stalks, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 cup dried cranberries
One 14-ounce package cornbread stuffing mix, such as Pepperidge Farm
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh sage
2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh thyme
2 cups turkey or chicken stock

Tips:

  • Use fresh cranberries. Fresh cranberries are tarter and have a more intense flavor than dried cranberries. If you can't find fresh cranberries, you can use dried cranberries, but be sure to reduce the amount of sugar in the recipe.
  • Toast the walnuts. Toasting the walnuts will bring out their flavor and make them more crunchy. You can toast the walnuts in a skillet over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, or you can toast them in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes.
  • Add some herbs to the stuffing. Herbs like sage, thyme, and rosemary will add a lot of flavor to the stuffing. You can use fresh or dried herbs, but be sure to add them to the stuffing mixture before you bake it.
  • Don't overcook the stuffing. The stuffing should be cooked until it is heated through, but it should not be overcooked. Overcooked stuffing will be dry and crumbly.

Conclusion:

Apple cranberry walnut stuffing is a delicious and festive side dish that is perfect for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. It is easy to make and can be made ahead of time. With its sweet and tart flavor, this stuffing is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
