EASY APPLE-BLUEBERRY CRISP
This is a variation off the Orchard Mills Apple Crisp package. I had about a cup of frozen blueberries left after making Recipe #288137, so I thought I would give this a try for quick Saturday night dessert. Also, I purchased too many Granny Smith apples a little bit ago and had to find a way to use them up. Put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side for something extra special! :)

BEST EVER BLUEBERRY APPLE CRISP
I have a friend who smacks his lips when I serve this and my daughter is notorious for eating this for breakfast!!! I have to hide it if I want any leftovers for supper the next day!!! My crisps are chock full of fruit...I never measure the fruit. I "eye ball" the blueberries...then add enough apple to give colour. I have used this topping for peach/blueberry, raspberry/rhubarb/apple, rhubarb/blueberry or basically use up all the frozen fruit I have in my freezer. I serve this with frozen vanilla ice cream or yogurt. This recipe could be cut in half quite successfully

Steps:
- Choose baking dish. Add enough blueberries to come 1/3 to 1/2 up the dish, keep in mind that the blueberries will "shrink" when cooked.
- If frozen, thaw them slightly. Flour could be added to thicken the frozen blueberries if desired. Add sugar if the fruit is tart, but the topping is sweet enough that it is not needed. Cut enough apples (depending on size) into the blueberries to give colour -- making sure that you have enough room for the topping
- Topping: Combine flour, brown sugar, rolled oats, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Mix well. Cut butter into flour/oat mixture until coarse crumbs.
- Spread over apple/blueberry mixture and bake in 350 oven for 30 minutes or until the fruit is cooked.
- To serve: I usually make the crisp up earlier in the day. Before serving, I put the crisp in the oven at 250 for 15 - 20 minutes or until warmed, then serve it with ice cream.

MARSHA'S APPLE OR BLUEBERRY CRISP
I was making the blueberry crisp one night for our bible study and doubled the recipe. Well I doubled the blueberries and not the crisp. It came out runny, served my mistake over vanilla ice cream that night and still make it that way. It is especially good when the runny crisp is still warm.

APPLE-BLUEBERRY CRISP
Steps:
- Preheat over to 375 degrees, with rack in the lower third. Butter a 3-qt baking dish and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Set aside In a large bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, 1/3 c granulated sugar, cinnamon, mace, and 1/4 t salt/ Using a pastry blender or your fingers cut in butter until large clumps form. Using a rubber spatula, mix in oats. Set aside In a large bowl, toss together blueberries, apples, lemon juice, remaining 1/2 c granulated sugar, flour and remaining 1/4 t sale to combine. Pour the fruit mixture into the prepared baking dish; sprinkle with the reserved oat mixture, covering fruit evenly. Bake until juices are bubbling and the topping is evenly browned, about 50 minutes. Cook slightly on a wire rack. Serve crisp warm tapped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
Tips:
- Use a variety of apples. This will give your crisp a more complex flavor. Some good options include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Pink Lady apples.
- Don't over-peel the apples. A little bit of peel adds flavor and texture to the crisp.
- Slice the apples thinly. This will help them cook evenly.
- Use fresh blueberries. Frozen blueberries can be used, but they will not have as much flavor.
- Don't over-mix the topping. Over-mixing will make the topping tough.
- Bake the crisp until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Serve the crisp warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Conclusion:
Apple blueberry crisp is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its simple ingredients and classic flavor, this crisp is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, give this recipe a try.
