ANN J'S POLISH SOUR CREAM LETTUCE

Ann J's Polish Sour Cream Lettuce image

Different and refreshing. If you like cucumbers in sour cream, you'll like this. A vintage recipe made by my little old Polish mother, who received it from an even older Polish lady. I've never seen this recipe anywhere else. I suspect it might have a bit of a German history somewhere. Use these measurements as a guide; this is for a fairly large head of lettuce.

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use high-quality sour cream and lettuce. Look for sour cream that is thick and creamy, and lettuce that is crisp and fresh.
  • If you don't have fresh dill, you can use dried dill instead. Use about 1/4 teaspoon of dried dill for every tablespoon of fresh dill.
  • You can also add other ingredients to your salad, such as chopped hard-boiled eggs, crumbled bacon, or chopped walnuts.
  • Serve your salad immediately after making it. The lettuce will start to wilt if it sits for too long.

This Polish sour cream and lettuce salad is a refreshing and flavorful side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your liking. So next time you are looking for a simple and delicious salad, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
