1 9" unbaked pie crust

Tips:

  • For the perfect pie crust, use a combination of butter and shortening. This will create a flaky and tender crust.
  • Be sure to chill the dough before rolling it out. This will help prevent the dough from shrinking in the oven.
  • When lining the pie plate with the dough, trim the edges so that there is about 1 inch of overhang. This will allow you to fold the edges under and crimp them to seal the pie.
  • Before filling the pie, pre-bake the crust for about 10 minutes. This will help to prevent the crust from becoming soggy.
  • When making the filling, be sure to use fresh, ripe fruit. This will give your pie the best flavor.
  • If you are using a store-bought pie crust, be sure to pre-bake it according to the package directions.
  • Serve the pie warm or at room temperature with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
