AIR FRYER OVEN PORK JERKY

Air Fryer Oven Pork Jerky image

I typically leave the jerky making to my husband but I got an air fryer oven and decided to try my hand at it. While it does take time, it doesn't take near as long as the dehydrator method he uses. This was so easy, full of flavor, stores well, and just overall impressive! This is the perfect snack for camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, or any outdoor activity.

Time 11h10m

Yield 35

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 pounds ground pork
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon Sriracha
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon pink curing salt

Steps:

  • Combine ground pork, sesame oil, Sriracha, soy sauce, rice vinegar, salt, black pepper, onion powder, and pink curing salt in a large bowl; mix until evenly combined. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours.
  • Using a jerky gun, form as many sticks as you can fit on all three of the air fryer oven racks. They will shrink almost immediately so you can put them close together and utilize the full length of the racks. I was able to get 21 sticks the first go around.
  • Set the air fryer oven to 160 degrees Fahrenheit. Place all three racks in and cook for 1 hour.
  • Remove racks from the oven and blot excess moisture with paper towels. Flip each stick and cook for 1 more hour.
  • Repeat step 4 for a total cook time of 3 hours. Transfer jerky sticks to a paper towel-lined baking sheet. Cover with another layer of paper towels and let sit out 8 hours for final drying. Repeat with any remaining jerky mix.
  • Transfer jerky to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 30 days.

Time 25m

Yield 6 servings.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 beef flank steak (1-1/2 pounds)
1 cup rice vinegar
1 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons minced fresh gingerroot
6 garlic cloves, minced
3 teaspoons sesame oil
2 teaspoons Sriracha chili sauce or 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
Optional: Sesame seeds and thinly sliced green onions

  • Cut beef into 1/4-in.-thick strips. In a large bowl, whisk the first 7 ingredients until blended. Pour 1 cup marinade into a shallow dish. Add beef; turn to coat. Refrigerate, covered, 2-8 hours. In batches if necessary, arrange skewers in a single layer on greased tray in air-fryer basket. Cook until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a thermometer should read 135°; medium, 140°; medium-well, 145°), 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally and basting frequently using 1/2 cup of reserved marinade. , Meanwhile, to make glaze, bring remaining marinade (about 3/4 cup) to a boil; whisk in 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch. Cook, whisking constantly until thickened, 1-2 minutes. Brush skewers with glaze just before serving. If desired, top with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Tips:

  • Choose the right pork: Look for pork loin or tenderloin, which are lean and tender cuts that cook quickly.
  • Cut the pork into uniform pieces: This will help them cook evenly.
  • Marinate the pork: Marinating the pork in a flavorful mixture of olive oil, spices, and herbs will add flavor and help tenderize the meat.
  • Use a high-quality air fryer: Not all air fryers are created equal. Choose one that is large enough to accommodate the pork skewers and has a powerful fan to circulate the hot air.
  • Preheat the air fryer: Preheating the air fryer will help the pork skewers cook evenly.
  • Cook the pork skewers in batches: Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket, or the pork skewers will not cook evenly.
  • Flip the pork skewers halfway through cooking: This will help them cook evenly on all sides.
  • Cook the pork skewers until they are cooked through: The internal temperature of the pork should reach 145 degrees Fahrenheit.

Conclusion:

Air fryer pork skewers are a quick, easy, and delicious meal that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With a little preparation, you can have a flavorful and healthy meal on the table in no time. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy weeknight dinner, give air fryer pork skewers a try. You won't be disappointed!
