5-INGREDIENT GRANOLA BARS

5-Ingredient Granola Bars image

A very easy granola bar recipe to make, with a few ingredients.

Provided by Cindi M Bauer

Categories     Other Desserts

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 c creamy peanut butter
3/4 c honey
3 c 100% whole grain old fashioned rolled oats
1 pinch salt
1 c raisins (i used sun-maid raisin medley)

Steps:

  • 1. Combine peanut butter and honey in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Melt to combine ingredients. Just be sure to keep stirring the ingredients.
  • 2. Once the ingredients look blended well, stir in the oats and other optional ingredients, like chocolate chips, or nuts. (I just added the raisins.)
  • 3. Press into a 9x9-inch pan that is lined with aluminum foil, and then sprayed with olive oil cooking spray.
  • 4. Refrigerate uncovered for 6 hours, or overnight. (I refrigerated mine overnight.)
  • 5. Cut granola into bars and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 1 week.
  • 6. Note: I cut mine into 18 bars (about 3-inch in size per each bar.) But I did not store mine in an airtight container. I didn't cover mine at all, and they held up well.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of oats for a more complex texture. For example, you could use a combination of rolled oats, quick oats, and steel-cut oats.
  • If you don't have honey, you can substitute maple syrup or agave nectar.
  • Add in your favorite nuts, seeds, and dried fruits. Some popular options include almonds, walnuts, pecans, chia seeds, flax seeds, raisins, cranberries, and blueberries.
  • For a chewier granola bar, press the mixture firmly into the pan before baking.
  • Let the granola bars cool completely before cutting them into bars. This will help them hold their shape better.

Conclusion:

These 5-ingredient granola bars are a delicious and healthy snack that is perfect for on-the-go. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a nutritious and satisfying snack that will help you power through your day.
