Tips:

  • Choose the right tomatoes: For the best flavor, use ripe, in-season tomatoes. Look for tomatoes that are firm and free of blemishes.
  • Use a variety of tomatoes: To add depth of flavor to your stew, use a variety of tomatoes, such as Roma tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and heirloom tomatoes.
  • Roast the tomatoes before stewing them: Roasting the tomatoes will caramelize their natural sugars and give them a smoky flavor. To roast the tomatoes, simply toss them with olive oil and salt and pepper, and roast them at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-30 minutes.
  • Add aromatics to the stew: To add flavor and depth to the stew, add aromatics such as garlic, onion, celery, and carrots. Sauté the aromatics in olive oil until they are softened.
  • Use a good quality broth: The broth you use will make a big difference in the flavor of the stew. Use a homemade broth or a good quality store-bought broth.
  • Simmer the stew for at least 30 minutes: This will allow the flavors to meld and develop.
  • Season the stew to taste: Add salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings to taste.
