Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9"x12" cake pan with cooking spray. Set aside.
- 2. I mixer bowl, cream butter and sugar together. Stir in vanilla, lemon juice and milk. Stir together dry ingredients in a bowl and add to creamed mixture. Mix until smooth but don't overbeat. Stir in mashed bananas and nuts if desired. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth out. Bake for 25-30 minutes until they test done with a toothpick. Adjust time for muffins. Cool completely in pan.
- 3. While bars are baking, whisk together glaze ingredients. Pour or spread glaze onto cooled bars as thin ot thick as desired. You may have extra glaze and when I double the recipe I don't double the glaze. Let set to firm up glaze.(I have been known to sneak a corner while still hot out of the oven..yum) Cut into 1" x 2" bars. Enjoy!
Tips:
- Use ripe bananas. The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your banana bars will be.
- Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can make the banana bars tough.
- Bake the banana bars until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Overbaking can make the banana bars dry.
- Let the banana bars cool completely before frosting them. This will help the frosting to set properly.
- Store the banana bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. You can also freeze the banana bars for up to 2 months.
Conclusion:
Banana bars are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a moist and flavorful dessert that the whole family will love. So next time you're looking for a sweet snack, give these banana bars a try!
