THE BEST CHEWY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES RECIPE BY TASTY

The Best Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe by Tasty image

There are a few secrets to the best classic, chewy chocolate chip cookies. Number one: Don't use chips; instead, opt for a mix of milk or semisweet and dark chocolate chunks. The second is to let the dough rest overnight or longer for a more complex, toffee-like flavor. Lastly, use an ice cream scooper to get even-sized cookies every time. And that's it! With these little tweaks, the result is a cookie that's textured on the outside, and soft and gooey on the inside. Absolutely perfect!

Time 1h5m

Yield 12 cookies

Number Of Ingredients 10

½ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
4 oz milk or semi-sweet chocolate chunks
4 oz dark chocolate chunk, or your preference

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the sugars, salt, and butter until a paste forms with no lumps.
  • Whisk in the egg and vanilla, beating until light ribbons fall off the whisk and remain for a short while before falling back into the mixture.
  • Sift in the flour and baking soda, then fold the mixture with a spatula (Be careful not to overmix, which would cause the gluten in the flour to toughen resulting in cakier cookies).
  • Fold in the chocolate chunks, then chill the dough for at least 30 minutes. For a more intense toffee-like flavor and deeper color, chill the dough overnight. The longer the dough rests, the more complex its flavor will be.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Scoop the dough with an ice-cream scoop onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet, leaving at least 4 inches (10 cm) of space between cookies and 2 inches (5 cm) of space from the edges of the pan so that the cookies can spread evenly.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges have started to barely brown.
  • Cool completely before serving.
  • Enjoy!

WISCONSIN'S BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

Wisconsin's Best Chocolate Chip Cookies image

Without a doubt, these are the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever made or eaten. Whenever I make them, I get tons of compliments (and believe me, it's not because of my cooking!)

Provided by Chicken Finger

Categories     Drop Cookies

Time 18m

Yield 7-8 dozen

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 lb softened butter
2 cups firmly packed dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons vanilla
3 large eggs
6 cups flour
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
4 cups chocolate chips
2 cups chopped nuts (optional)

Steps:

  • Drop by large teaspoonful on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 350°. Transfer to a wire rack to cool after one minute.
  • To get the cookies to come out soft, I undercook them a bit. Depending on your oven, try baking the first batch for 8 minutes - if they are not cooked enough, cook them a little longer. Don't forget that they will continue to cook for another minute on the cookie sheet after you take them out!
  • This recipe can be frozen for later use.
  • Note: Since this recipe yields so many cookies, it's best to use a stand mixer if you aren't halving the ingredients.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate chips: Good chocolate chips make a big difference in the taste of your cookies. Look for chocolate chips that are made with real chocolate and have a high percentage of cocoa solids (at least 60%).
  • Chill your dough: Chilling the dough before baking helps the cookies to spread less and results in a thicker, chewier cookie.
  • Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing the dough will result in a tough cookie. Mix the dough just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the cookies at a high temperature: Baking the cookies at a high temperature (375 degrees Fahrenheit) for a short period of time (10-12 minutes) will result in a crispy exterior and a soft, chewy interior.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. This will help the cookies to set and prevent them from breaking.

Conclusion:

These Wisconsin chocolate chip cookies are the perfect treat for any occasion. They're easy to make, delicious, and sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. So next time you're in the mood for a classic chocolate chip cookie, be sure to give this recipe a try.
