Number Of Ingredients 7

2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup catsup
1 egg, beaten
1 onion, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup Italian-flavored dry bread crumbs
8 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine beef, catsup, egg, onion and salt; mix well. Form into 8 patties; flatten to desired thickness. Place bread crumbs in a shallow pan. Pat each side of patties in crumbs until coated. Place patties in a lightly greased 13"x9" baking pan. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes, turning over after 8 minutes. Patties may also be pan-fried in a lightly greased skillet over medium heat. Cook on each side for 6 to 8 minutes, until lightly browned. Serve on buns. Tip: A muffin tin makes a terrific condiment server. Fill each of the cups with something different...catsup, mustard, relish, hot sauce, horseradish and pickle slices are all ideal toppings for sandwiches and burgers.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality beef: Use 80/20 ground beef for a juicy and flavorful burger.
  • Season the beef liberally: Use a combination of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce for a flavorful burger.
  • Form the patties gently: Do not overwork the beef, as this will make the burgers tough.
  • Cook the burgers over medium heat: This will help prevent the burgers from drying out.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness: The internal temperature for a medium-rare burger is 145°F (63°C).
  • Toast the buns: This will give the burgers a nice smoky flavor.
  • Add your favorite toppings: Cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles are all classic burger toppings.

Wimpy burgers are a delicious and easy-to-make classic burger recipe. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a burger that is juicy, flavorful, and satisfying. So next time you're craving a burger, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
