1 c buttermilk ( 70 to 80 degrees
2 Tbsp maple syrup
2 Tbsp butter,softened or vegetable oil ( i used oil )
2 Tbsp nonfat dry milk powder
1 c whole wheat flour
2 c bread machine flour ( 1 1/4 cups of canadian flour )
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp bread machine yeast

Steps:

  • 1. Add ingredients to bread machine as directed by your instruction manual.(most machines,use wet ingredients first. After adding all the dry ingredients,EXCEPT YEAST & SALT. I usually make two little "wells in in the flour and add the yeast in one and the salt in the other. DO NOT LET YEAST TOUCH WATER!!!).
  • 2. Set bread machine on basic bread cycle,and go on from there :).
  • 3. Or just use dough cycle,remove from machine,form into loaf and place in a greased loaf pan.
  • 4. Cover, and let rise in warm place for 1 hour.
  • 5. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes,at 350 degrees.

2 tablespoons active dry yeast
2 cups warm water (110° to 115°)
1 egg
1/2 cup canola oil
1/2 cup maple syrup
2 teaspoons salt
3 cups whole wheat flour
2-1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons butter, melted

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add egg, oil, syrup, salt, whole wheat flour and 1 cup all-purpose flour. Beat on medium speed until smooth. Stir in enough remaining all-purpose flour to form a soft dough (dough will be sticky). , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. , Punch dough down. Shape into loaves. Place in three greased 8x4-in. loaf pans. Cover and let rise until nearly doubled, about 40 minutes. Bake at 350° for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool. Brush with melted butter.

4 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
