Tips:

  • Use warm water for activating yeast. This helps the yeast to bloom and become active, resulting in a better rise for your rolls.
  • If you don't have buttermilk, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar to 1 cup of regular milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes before using.
  • Be careful not to overmix the dough. Overmixing can result in tough rolls.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size. This usually takes about 1 hour.
  • Brush the rolls with melted butter before baking. This will give them a golden brown color and a soft, glossy crust.
  • Bake the rolls until they are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped.
