Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (10 oz) package pretzels
5 cups Cheerios (you can use plain or my favorite is the Multi-Grain Peanut Butter)
5 cups Corn Chex
2 cups peanuts (or mixed nuts)
2 (12 oz) packages plain M & M's
2 (12 oz) packages white chocolate chips
3 Tablespoons vegetable oil

Steps:

  • In a VERY large bowl (or two medium bowls), combine the first 5 ingredients. Set aside.
  • In a microwave safe bowl, heat white chips and oil on high for 60 seconds (you could also melt chocolate and oil in a double boiler pan). Stir and microwave for another 30 seconds and stir until completely melted and smooth (you may need to microwave for a couple more seconds). Pour melted chocolate over cereal mix and stir until all the cereal is evenly covered with white chocolate. Spread cereal mix on 2 large baking sheets (I used cookie sheets) lined with wax paper. Let cool and then break apart into chunks.
  • Store in an air tight container.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: The fresher the ingredients, the better your Chex mix will taste. Look for Chex cereal that is crisp and not stale, and make sure your white chocolate is smooth and creamy.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When you're melting the white chocolate, don't overcrowd the pan. This will make it difficult for the chocolate to melt evenly and could cause it to seize.
  • Be patient: Melting white chocolate can take some time. Be patient and stir the chocolate constantly until it is completely melted.
  • Use a variety of mix-ins: Don't be afraid to experiment with different mix-ins. Some popular options include nuts, dried fruit, candy, and pretzels.
  • Store your Chex mix properly: Once your Chex mix is made, store it in an airtight container at room temperature. It will keep for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

White chocolate Chex mix is a delicious and easy-to-make snack that is perfect for any occasion. It's a great way to use up leftover Chex cereal, and it's also a fun activity to do with kids.
