An original recipe inspired by my Polish grandmother's cooking. For a milder flavor, you can rinse and drain the sauerkraut. I serve this with crusty rye bread.

Categories     Pork

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1-2 Tbsp oil or butter
1 lb smoked kielbasa, cut into 1/2 inch slices
1 small onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 tsp dried rosemary, crushed
1/2 tsp oregano, dried
1/2 tsp dried basil
141/2 oz can peeled, diced tomatoes
16 oz can great northern, navy or canellini beans

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oil or butter in a large skillet add kielbasa and cook over medium high heat until browned, remove from pan
  • 2. Reduce heat to medium, add onions and cook until transparent
  • 3. Reduce heat to low, add garlic and herbs and cook 1 minute
  • 4. Add kielbasa, tomatoes and white beans, bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh, high-quality ingredients will make a big difference in the flavor of your dish. Look for plump, white beans and kielbasa that is made with real meat.
  • Soak the beans overnight: This will help to soften the beans and reduce the cooking time. If you don't have time to soak the beans overnight, you can quick-soak them by boiling them for 1 minute, then removing them from the heat and letting them sit for 1 hour.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: This will add flavor and texture to your dish. Some good options include onions, carrots, celery, bell peppers, and tomatoes.
  • Season the dish well: Don't be afraid to use salt, pepper, and other spices to season your dish. This will help to bring out the flavor of the ingredients.
  • Serve with a side of bread or rice: This will help to soak up the delicious sauce.

Conclusion:

White beans and kielbasa is a hearty and flavorful dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own preferences. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy meal, give white beans and kielbasa a try.
