Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 c self-rising flour, plus more for dusting
1 Tbsp sugar
1 1/2 c heavy whipping cream

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven 450 degrees F. (Her recipe says 500 degrees) but mine does better at lower temp.
  • 2. In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, and cream until the dough forms a ball. Turn the dough out onto a surface dusted with the additional flour.
  • 3. Fold the dough in 1/2 and knead 5 to 7 times, adding just enough flour to keep dough from sticking to your hands.
  • 4. Gently roll out dough to 1/2 thickness. Using a 3-inch biscuit cutter coated with flour, cut dough into biscuits. Place on baking sheet coated with cooking spray ( I use crisco shortening), leaving at least 1 -inch between each biscuit.
  • 5. Bake for 10 to 13 minutes, or until golden brown. ( I rub margarine on the tops when I take them out while they are hot). These bake very quickly so keep a check on them.

2 cups self-rising flour
1 cup heavy (whipping) cream

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450°F. Combine flour and cream in a mixing bowl, stirring just until blended. The dough will be a little stiff. Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface and knead 10 times. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness and cut with a 2 inch cutter. Place biscuits close together on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use cold whipping cream for the best results. Whipping cream that is too warm will not whip up properly.
  • Make sure your mixing bowl and whisk are also cold. This will help the whipping cream whip up faster.
  • Whip the cream gradually, starting on low speed and gradually increasing the speed as the cream thickens.
  • Do not over-whip the cream. Over-whipped cream will become grainy and stiff.
  • If you are using the whipped cream for a recipe, be sure to use it immediately. Whipped cream will not hold its shape for long.
