Tips for Making the Best Weeknight Pepper Steak:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the quality of your ingredients, the better your pepper steak will taste. Look for fresh, tender steak, and flavorful peppers.
  • Marinate the steak: Marinating the steak in a flavorful marinade will help to tenderize it and add flavor. You can marinate the steak for as little as 30 minutes or up to overnight.
  • Cook the steak over high heat: Pepper steak is best cooked over high heat so that the steak gets a nice sear and remains tender and juicy. Be sure to use a heavy-bottomed skillet or grill pan so that the steak doesn't stick.
  • Don't overcook the steak: Pepper steak is a quick-cooking dish, so be careful not to overcook the steak. Overcooked steak will be tough and chewy.
  • Add the peppers and onions at the end: The peppers and onions should be cooked just until they are tender-crisp. If you cook them for too long, they will become mushy.
  • Serve the pepper steak immediately: Pepper steak is best served immediately after it is cooked. This will help to keep the steak tender and juicy.
