This is so easy and so good. I have served this at bridal showers and baby showers and even a wedding reception for 100 people! Very easy to double or triple recipe. Really nice on a hot day for back yard BBQ's! Just put in large pitcher. This also makes a fantastic mixer with limon Bicardi! MMM Good.

WEDDING PUNCH

Wedding Punch image

I've made this punch for several weddings, parties and showers and it always goes over well! From the 1986 Southern Living Annual Recipes. I haven't made it with champagne, but I am sure it would be delicous that way! Take time to make the ice ring; it really makes the punch perfect! If you need to make a lot of this, you can make the punch up to the point where you chill the base and instead freeze it. I've made enough for 100 people this way with good results. Also, the original recipe calls for a 28-ounce bottle of tonic water. I just always use the full 1 liter bottle. Preparation time includes a swag on how long it takes to make the ice ring. Cooking time is just the time to combine the base, ice ring and carbonated beverage.

Time 4h10m

Yield 6 quarts, 48 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 small oranges, sliced and seeded
1 (6 ounce) jar maraschino cherries
1 (1 liter) bottle ginger ale
1 (12 ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate, diluted
1 (46 ounce) can pineapple juice
1/4 cup lime juice
3/4 cup sugar
1 (1 liter) bottle tonic water, chilled
1 (2 liter) bottle ginger ale, chilled or 2 (25 1/2 ounce) bottles champagne

Steps:

  • Cut orange slices in half. Line bottom of a 6 1/2 cup ring mold with half of orange slices and cherries. (A Bundt pan works just fine for this although you may need more than 1 liter of ginger ale).
  • Pour in a thin layer of ginger ale, and freeze until firm.
  • Arrange remaining orange slices and cherries along side of ring mold, and pour in another thin layer of ginger ale. Freeze until firm.
  • Pour in remainder of ginger ale and freeze until firm.
  • Combine orange juice, pineapple juice, lime juice, and sugar, stirring until sugar dissolves. Chill mixture. (You can freeze here for use later).
  • Just before serving, pour chilled juice mixture into punch bowl; add tonic water, champagne or additional ginger ale, and ice ring.
  • If you freeze the base, let it thaw completely before making the punch.

Tips:

  • Choose a Flavorful Fruit Juice: Select a high-quality fruit juice that complements the flavors of your chosen punch recipe. Freshly squeezed juices offer the best taste, but store-bought juices can also be used for convenience. Consider popular options like orange, pineapple, cranberry, or a blend of your favorites.
  • Use Fresh Fruits for Garnish: Enhance the visual appeal of your punch by adding fresh fruit slices, berries, or mint leaves as garnish. This adds a vibrant pop of color and enhances the overall presentation of the drink.
  • Chill Your Punch in Advance: Make sure to chill your punch thoroughly before serving. This ensures that it is refreshing and cold, especially during warm weather events. You can chill the punch in a refrigerator or by placing it in a large bowl filled with ice cubes.
  • Control the Sweetness: Adjust the sweetness of your punch according to your personal preference and the sweetness level of the fruit juice used. You can add more sugar or honey if desired, but start with a small amount and gradually increase it until you achieve the desired taste.
  • Serve with Ice: Serve your punch in a punch bowl or large pitcher filled with ice cubes. This helps keep the drink cold and dilutes it slightly, making it more enjoyable to sip.

Conclusion:

Creating a delicious and refreshing wedding day punch is an art that combines flavors, colors, and textures to delight your guests. By following these tips and experimenting with different recipes, you can craft a unique and memorable punch that perfectly complements your special day. Remember to consider the occasion, the preferences of your guests, and the overall theme of your wedding when selecting the flavors and presentation of your punch. With careful planning and attention to detail, you can create a signature drink that adds a touch of elegance and festivity to your wedding celebration.
