APPLE, RAISIN, WALNUT CAKE

Apple, Raisin, Walnut Cake image

The girls and boys in my junior high home economics classes like this cake because it's not too sweet. I like it because it has high fiber and nutritional value-the apples are used unpeeled. Parents who have apple trees are always glad to donate the apples!

APPLE WALNUT BREAKFAST BARS

Apple Walnut Breakfast Bars image

Easy and delicious breakfast bar (healthy too!). They are no-bake. I usually use Raisin Bran or Bran Flakes for the cereal part, but Corn flakes, cheerios, or even rice krispies would be great. From BHG.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 apples, halved and cored
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup raisins
2 tablespoons orange marmalade
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon butter

Steps:

  • Core and halve 2 apples, top with these ingredients, and bake at 350 degrees until tender, 30 minutes. If apples get too brown, tent with foil.

Tips:

  • To achieve the perfect texture for your bars, use a combination of butter and cream cheese. The cream cheese will add richness and density, while the butter will provide flakiness and a tender crumb. Ensure that both ingredients are at room temperature before mixing them together for optimal blending.
  • Incorporate a mixture of chopped walnuts, plump raisins, and crisp apple pieces into your batter for a delightful combination of flavors and textures. These ingredients will add sweetness, crunch, and a touch of tartness to your bars, creating a well-balanced and satisfying treat.
  • For a golden brown and caramelized crust, sprinkle a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon over the top of the bars before baking. This simple addition will enhance the flavor and create an irresistible aroma while they bake.
  • Allow the bars to cool completely before slicing and serving. This will ensure that they hold their shape and maintain their delicious texture.

Conclusion:

Walnut raisin apple bars are a delectable treat that combines the flavors of sweet and crunchy walnuts, plump and juicy raisins, tart and crisp apples, and a buttery, cinnamon-infused crust. These bars are perfect for any occasion, whether it's a casual gathering, a special celebration, or a simple afternoon snack.
