BAKED BRIE WITH HONEY AND WALNUTS

Baked Brie with Honey and Walnuts image

An easy baked brie recipe with honey, walnuts, and fresh rosemary

Provided by Kelley

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 wedge or small wheel of brie cheese
1/3 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
1/2 teaspoon freshly chopped rosemary
2-3 tablespoons dried cranberries (optional)
3 tablespoons honey
a generous pinch of coarse sea salt
crackers and/or fruit for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Place the brie into a small oven proof dish or pan. Place into the oven and bake for 5-10 minutes, until softened. I like mine oozy so go a few extra minutes. If you just want the brie soft, check at 5 minutes.
  • Meanwhile toast walnuts by placing them in a skillet over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the nuts are fragrant and toasted. This will take 3-4 minutes.. Watch carefully as the walnuts can burn quickly. Remove from heat.
  • In a small bowl, combine toasted walnuts, chopped rosemary, dried cranberries if using and the honey. Stir until completely combined.
  • Remove brie from oven and spoon over the walnut mixture over the top. Sprinkle with a generous pinch of sea salt and serve immediately.
  • Serve brie with your choice of crackers, pita chips, grapes, apples, or crostini. They're all delicious choices!

WALNUT PRALINES

Walnut Pralines image

Original Pralines made with Pecans are traditional from the South. I grabbed a bag of nuts one day and did this recipe with Walnuts. Wow, turned out a little lighter and less sweet taste. Great! Now I can eat more than one at a time. Pecans too rich! Some original ingredients from Sara Dolezal, Allrecipes.com

Yield serves 4 to 6

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 pound red or green grapes
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
4 teaspoons butter
2 teaspoons light corn syrup
2 ounces chopped walnuts
1 small wheel of Brie (8 ounces)

Steps:

  • Wash and divide grapes into clusters. Make praline: Place sugar, butter, corn syrup, and 1 teaspoon water in a small saucepan. Simmer for 3 minutes. Stir in walnuts. Cut Brie into wedges; arrange on round serving tray. Spoon 1 teaspoon praline mixture over each wedge. Garnish with grapes.

Tips:

  • Use ripe pears and apples. They will be sweeter and have a better flavor.
  • Toast the walnuts before adding them to the praline. This will bring out their flavor and make them more crunchy.
  • Use a good quality Brie cheese. A Brie with a strong flavor will stand up to the sweetness of the praline and fruit.
  • Bake the Brie just until it is melted. Overbaking will cause it to become dry and rubbery.
  • Serve the Brie immediately. It is best when it is warm and gooey.

Walnut praline Brie with fruit is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer. It is perfect for parties or special occasions. The combination of sweet and savory flavors is sure to please everyone. Whether you are a seasoned chef or a beginner, this recipe is sure to impress your guests. So next time you are looking for a delicious and easy appetizer, give walnut praline Brie with fruit a try.
