Pineapple Waldorf Salad image

"This pretty salad is a staple at my house. I've shared the recipe with any satisfied guests," pens Lois Kenneberg, Phoenix, Arizona. "It's easily divided for smaller portions, too-I frequently make just 'one apple's worth'. I you don't like pineapple, try substituting canned mandarin oranges and juice instead."

I came up with this recipe as a way to serve something crunchy and fruity with a touch of sweetness. WALDORF SALAD

Waldorf Salad image

Inspired by Ruby Tuesday's Waldorf. The recipe is identical except for the grapes, the oranges, and possibly the exact type of apple. I also imagine they use regular mayonnaise, sour cream, and sugar. I don't use measurements for this one, so I guesstimated it. I like lots of dressing on mine. See http://www.recipezaar.com/306406 for recipe of the candied pecans.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe and juicy fruits. This will ensure that your salad is full of flavor. Look for fruits that are brightly colored and free of blemishes.
  • Cut the fruits into small, even pieces. This will help them to distribute evenly throughout the salad. You want the fruit to be bite-sized, but not so small that it loses its shape.
  • Use a light dressing. A heavy dressing will overwhelm the delicate flavors of the fruits. A simple vinaigrette or yogurt dressing is a good option.
  • Add some crunch to the salad. Nuts, seeds, or crumbled bacon are all great ways to add some extra texture and flavor.
  • Serve the salad chilled. This will help to keep the fruits crisp and refreshing.

Conclusion:

Waldorf mandarin salad is a delicious and refreshing salad that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. The combination of sweet and tart fruits, crunchy nuts, and creamy dressing is sure to please everyone at your table.
