CRUNCHY AND LIGHT WAFFLES FOR TWO

Crunchy and Light Waffles for Two image

Reincarnated from the Frugal Gourmet's recipe, this waffle batter is made air light by the addition of a beaten egg white to produce an exceptionally crisp waffle. Best made on an older waffle iron, the teflon ones can undercook your waffles. You may need to let it continue to cook for 30 seconds even after the light goes off for a nice crunchy waffle.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the waffles will be. Use fresh buttermilk, eggs, and butter for the best flavor and texture.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the waffles tough. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Preheat your waffle iron: A hot waffle iron is essential for crispy waffles. Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Grease the waffle iron: Greasing the waffle iron will help prevent the waffles from sticking. You can use butter, cooking spray, or nonstick cooking spray.
  • Cook the waffles until they are golden brown: The waffles should be cooked until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Cooking time will vary depending on the type of waffle iron you are using.
  • Serve the waffles immediately: Waffles are best served immediately after they are cooked. They can be served with butter, syrup, fruit, or whipped cream.

Whether you like them simple or loaded with fruit, nuts, or chocolate chips, there is a waffle recipe out there for everyone.
