WAFFLE CONE ICE CREAM SUNDAE PIE
Steps:
- Place 10 waffle cones in a large resealable bag. Crush the cones into large pieces (about 1/2 inch). Reserve 2/3 cup for garnish. Place the remaining crushed cones into a large bowl. Add 1 cup hardening chocolate sauce and toss to coat. Place into a 9-inch pie dish and press to form a crust. Place in the freezer to set, about 20 minutes.
- Spread the softened ice cream into the pie crust, being sure to make the top as smooth as possible. Press the remaining 2/3 cup crushed waffle cone around the edge of the pie to form a crust rim. Place in the freezer until the ice cream firms up, about 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, beat the heavy cream with the sugar and vanilla in a large, chilled metal bowl until it holds medium-stiff peaks. Refrigerate until ready to use.
- To serve, spread 1/3 cup of the hardening chocolate sauce over the ice cream. Top with the whipped cream. Drizzle with the caramel sauce and hot fudge sauce. Garnish with the peanuts, sprinkles and cherries. Place the remaining waffle cone upside-down in the center of the pie and serve.

WAFFLE CONES
I used to have to make hundreds of these a week at a restaurant called Melange where I was the pastry chef in 1987. We actually served them differently. Dave Jarvis, the chef, had us sauce the plate with caramel or raspberry sauce, place a large scoop of ice cream on the plate and then place the cone, open end down, on the ice cream, like a pointed hat sticking up. It looked very dramatic traveling through the dining room.

Steps:
- In a bowl with a whisk, whip the cream with the vanilla until mousse-like (it won't form peaks.) Sift the remaining ingredients together and stir them into the cream to make a batter. Let the batter sit for 30 minutes.
- Heat up waffle cone iron and brush with a little oil. Pour some batter in and close the lid to bake and brown. Open the iron and remove the browned batter and fold over itself, overlapping it, on a wooden cone-form into a cone. Let cool then top with a scoop of ice cream.
Tips:
- Choose the right waffle cones: Look for cones that are sturdy and can hold up to the weight of the ice cream and toppings. You can use sugar cones, cake cones, or even gluten-free cones.
- Soften the ice cream: This will make it easier to spread and will help prevent the cones from cracking.
- Use a variety of toppings: Get creative with your toppings! You can use anything from fresh fruit and whipped cream to chocolate chips and sprinkles.
- Freeze the pie before serving: This will help the ice cream firm up and make it easier to slice.
Conclusion:
Waffle cone ice cream pie is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a stunning and delicious pie that will wow your friends and family. So next time you're looking for a fun and festive dessert, give waffle cone ice cream pie a try!
