This delicious blueberry liquor is best with frozen blueberries rather than fresh due to the organic breakdown that occurs when fruit is frozen. This allows the berries to 'burst' into the vodka and please the taste-buds!

Yield 750 ml

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 cup blueberries
3 cups vodka
2 cups sugar
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon glycerin (optional)

Steps:

  • In a quart jar, blueberries, 1 cup sugar, and vodka. (I use frozen blueberries as the freezing process breaks down the cell walls, allowing you to get more juice).
  • Seal jar tightly, and place in a dry, dark place for about 2 weeks.
  • After two weeks, strain the liquid using a double layer of cheese cloth. Gently squeeze the blueberries, getting as much juice from them as possible.
  • In a fresh quart jar, add the second cup of sugar, water to top and the strained liquid. Seal and store again in a dark place until sugar is dissolved.
  • Once the sugar has all dissolved, bottle the resulting liqueur in a fresh bottle and let age for roughly 3 months.

Tips for Making Vodka Blueberry Liqueur:

  • Use fresh, ripe blueberries for the best flavor.
  • Wash the blueberries thoroughly before using them.
  • You can use any type of vodka you like, but a good quality vodka will produce a better tasting liqueur.
  • Sweeten the liqueur to your taste. You can use sugar, honey, or simple syrup.
  • If you want a thicker liqueur, you can add some pectin.
  • Let the liqueur age for at least 2 weeks before drinking it. This will allow the flavors to meld together.

Conclusion:

Vodka blueberry liqueur is a delicious and easy-to-make liqueur that is perfect for sipping on its own, using in cocktails, or giving as gifts.
