Provided by Stormy Stewart

Categories     Puddings

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 c melted butter
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 c milk
5 apples, peeled and chopped
1 tsp cinnamon
1 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1 c flour

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small baking baking dish, combine butter, sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, and milk until smooth. In a small sauce pan, combine apples and cinnamon. Heat over low heat until apples are soft. Pour apples into the center of the batter.
  • 2. Bake at 375 in the preheated oven 30 minutes, or until golden.

Tips:

  • Use the right apples: Choose firm, tart apples like Granny Smith or Braeburn for the best flavor and texture.
  • Peel and core the apples evenly: This will ensure that they cook evenly and prevent the pudding from becoming lumpy.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing can make the pudding tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the pudding in a water bath: This will help to prevent the pudding from drying out and cracking.
  • Let the pudding cool completely before serving: This will allow the flavors to meld and the pudding to set properly.

Conclusion:

Virginia Apple Pudding is a classic dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make, and the results are always delicious. With its rich, buttery flavor and tender apples, this pudding is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
