Categories     Condiment/Spread     Vegetable     Appetizer     Bake     Quick & Easy

Number Of Ingredients 4

4 c chopped vidalia onions
24 oz cream cheese, softened
2 c freshly grated parmesan
1/2 c mayo

Steps:

  • Pat the onions with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Combine the onions, cream cheese, parm and mayo in a bowl and mix well. Spoon into a pie plate or quiche pan. Bake @ 425 degrees for 15 minutes until golden brown. It is REALLY HOT when it comes out, so be careful!

Tips:

  • Use a combination of Vidalia onions and another type of onion, such as yellow or white, for a more complex flavor.
  • Caramelize the onions slowly over low heat until they are a deep golden brown. This will bring out their natural sweetness.
  • Use a good quality puff pastry for the crust. This will make the tart light and flaky.
  • If you don't have time to make your own puff pastry, you can use a store-bought puff pastry sheet. Just be sure to thaw it completely before using.
  • Use a variety of cheeses in the filling. This will add flavor and complexity to the tart.
  • Don't overcook the tart. The onions should be soft and caramelized, but they should still have a little bit of bite to them.
  • Serve the tart warm or at room temperature. It can be served as an appetizer, main course, or side dish.

Conclusion:

Vidalia onion tarts are a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for a variety of occasions, from casual gatherings to formal dinners. With their sweet and savory flavor, Vidalia onion tarts are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
