VERY BERRY BLACKBERRY DUMP CAKE RECIPE - (4.1/5)

Very Berry Blackberry Dump Cake Recipe - (4.1/5) image

Provided by Booper-2

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 cups fresh black berries
1 (3 ounce) box raspberry or black berry jello
1.3 cup white sugar
1 (18 ounce) box yellow cake mix
1 cup water (if using frozen berries decrease water to 1/2 cup)
1-2 sticks melted butter(I recommend 2 sticks)
1/2 cup pecan pieces, optional

Steps:

  • I used fresh blackberries that had been frozen. If using frozen berries make sure to drain off any of the juice before adding them. Also decrease your water to 1/2 cup. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread berries into a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Mix jell-O and sugar together and sprinkle over the berries. Sprinkle the cake mix over the jell-o and berries. If using nuts add them now. Pour the melted butter over the cake mix and then slowly add the water. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 to 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and when a tooth pick is inserted to the cake and comes out clean. Let cool and serve with ice cream or whipped cream.

Provided by Timothy H.

Categories     Dessert

Time 45m

Yield 1 cake

Number Of Ingredients 6

yellow cake mix
1/2 cup rolled oats
4 cups fresh blackberries
1/2 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup butter, melted (can also use cold butter shavings)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 Mix your berries, sugar and cinnamon together and spread in the bottom of a 9×13 pan.
  • 3 Sprinkle dry cake mix and rolled oats over the top of berry mixture.
  • 4 Pour melted butter over the cake/oats mix, make sure you cover evenly. (Melted butter will absorb into the dry cake mix. Do not stir! If you use cold butter shavings, scatter over the top of dry cake mix trying to cover evenly).
  • 5 Bake 30 minutes or until top is golden and berries are bubbling. You can serve this with ice cream, whipped cream or cool whip.

Tips:

  • Use fresh or frozen blackberries: Fresh blackberries are ideal for this recipe, but frozen blackberries can also be used. If using frozen blackberries, thaw them completely before using.
  • Don't overmix the batter: The batter for this cake should be lumpy. Overmixing will result in a tough cake.
  • Bake the cake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean: This will ensure that the cake is cooked through.
  • Serve the cake warm or at room temperature: This cake is best served warm or at room temperature. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

This Very Berry Blackberry Dump Cake is an easy and delicious dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is made with fresh or frozen blackberries, a simple cake mix, and a creamy vanilla pudding mix. The cake is baked until golden brown and then served warm or at room temperature.
