Time 1h

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 lbs boneless venison sirloin, cut into 1 1/2 inch cubes
3 cups vegetable oil
1/4 cup dry Burgundy wine
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 1/2 tablespoons liquid smoke
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon white pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion juice

24 small fresh mushrooms
4 small onions, peeled and quartered
2 -3 large green peppers, cut into 24 1 inch pieces
hot cooked long grain and wild rice blend

  • Cover and refrigerate 48 hours, stirring occasionally (or turn container over).
  • Remove meat from marinade; reserve marinade.

This is a claimed orphan recipe. It sounded so good I just had to have it

Provided by Stormy Stewart

Categories     Wild Game

Number Of Ingredients 13

venison kabobs
1/4 c cranberry juice
1/4 c olive oil
1/4 tsp fresh garlic
1/4 tsp onion salt
1/4 tsp celery salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp sweet basil
1/8 tsp ginger
mushrooms
onions
green peppers
cherry tomatoes

Steps:

  • 1. Mix juice, oil and spices.
  • 2. Marinate the venison kabobs overnight or at least 4 hours in the refrigerator.
  • 3. Thread the kabob on skewers.
  • 4. Alternate skewered meat with mushrooms, onion and green peppers.
  • 5. Grill over hot fire for several minutes.
  • 6. Do not overcook.
  • 7. While cooking, baste meat and vegetables several times with leftover marina.
  • 8. Serve on a warmed platter.

Tips:

  • Choose the right venison cut: For kabobs, tender cuts like tenderloin, backstrap, or sirloin are best.
  • Marinate the venison: Marinating the venison helps tenderize it and infuse it with flavor. Use a marinade made with acidic ingredients like vinegar or citrus juice, and add herbs, spices, and seasonings to your liking.
  • Cut the venison into uniform pieces: This will help ensure even cooking.
  • Skewers: Use metal or wooden skewers that have been soaked in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  • Vegetables: Choose firm vegetables that will hold up well on the skewers, such as bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, or zucchini.
  • Grilling: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat and cook the kabobs for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally.
  • Rest: Let the kabobs rest for a few minutes before serving to allow the juices to redistribute.

Conclusion:

Venison kabobs are a delicious and easy way to enjoy this lean and flavorful meat. By following these tips, you can create tender, juicy, and flavorful kabobs that will be a hit at your next gathering. Experiment with different marinades and vegetable combinations to find your favorite recipe.
