VELVEETA ULTIMATE MACARONI AND CHEESE

Velveeta Ultimate Macaroni and Cheese image

I got this off a box of Velveeta Cheese when I saw it made on Good Morning America. The recipe is exact, i haven't changed it. I usually buy the large block of Velveeta cheese and store any unused cheese in ziploc bags, so I'm forever searching for the recipe. It's easy and fast. My family swears it tastes just like KFC! You can also put the Macaroni and Cheese in a greased casserole dish and make a topping out of 1 sleeve of crushed Ritz Crackers and 1 stick of melted butter. Combine and then sprinkle on top of casserole. Bake in 350 degree oven till top is golden brown.

CLASSIC VELVEETA MAC & CHEESE

Classic Velveeta Mac & Cheese image

My son is a very picky eater, but loves Velveeta cheese. I make this for every holiday so he will at least eat something. When my aunt visited relatives in Florida for Thanksgiving, she called to get this recipe so they could have it for Thanksgiving dinner.

Categories     Cheese

Time 55m

Yield 15 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

16 ounces macaroni (uncooked)
1/2 cup margarine or 1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
4 cups milk
14 ounces Velveeta cheese, cut into chunks
salt and pepper
8 slices Velveeta cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Cook macaroni according to directions and drain.
  • Melt margarine in a large saucepan.
  • Add flour and whisk together.
  • Whisk in milk and cook over medium heat until mixture starts to bubble and thickens.
  • Stir constantly.
  • Add chunks of Velveeta and allow to melt.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Pour macaroni into a 13x9 oblong baking dish.
  • Pour sauce over macaroni.
  • Bake in the oven for 20 minutes, then put extra slices of cheese on top.
  • Bake for another 5 minutes until cheese melts.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes, then serve.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality cheese: The type of cheese you use will have a big impact on the flavor of your macaroni and cheese. Use a sharp cheddar cheese for a bold flavor, or a mild cheddar cheese for a more subtle flavor.
  • Cook the pasta al dente: This means that the pasta should be cooked until it is just tender, but still has a slight bite to it. Overcooked pasta will make your macaroni and cheese mushy.
  • Make a roux: A roux is a mixture of butter and flour that is used to thicken sauces. It will help to give your macaroni and cheese a creamy texture.
  • Add milk or cream: Milk or cream will help to make your macaroni and cheese more creamy and flavorful. You can use whole milk, skim milk, or even half-and-half.
  • Season to taste: Be sure to season your macaroni and cheese with salt, pepper, and other spices to taste. You can also add in other ingredients, such as cooked bacon, diced tomatoes, or chopped green onions.

Conclusion:

Macaroni and cheese is a classic comfort food that is loved by people of all ages. It is a versatile dish that can be easily customized to suit your own taste preferences. Whether you like it simple or loaded with toppings, macaroni and cheese is sure to be a hit at your next gathering.
