1/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 vanilla bean, split lengthwise

Tips:

  • Use high-quality vanilla beans for the best flavor. Split the beans lengthwise and scrape out the seeds; then, add both the beans and the seeds to the rice pudding.
  • If you don't have vanilla beans, you can use 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract instead.
  • Use whole milk or half-and-half for a richer flavor. If you use skim milk, the rice pudding will be thinner.
  • Cook the rice pudding over low heat, stirring frequently, to prevent it from scorching.
  • Once the rice pudding has thickened, remove it from the heat and stir in the raisins, nuts, and spices. If you are using fresh fruit, wait to add it until just before serving.
  • Serve the rice pudding warm or chilled. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

Vanilla bean rice pudding is a classic dessert that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. It is a creamy and comforting dish that is perfect for any occasion. With its simple ingredients and straightforward instructions, this recipe is a great choice for beginner cooks or anyone who loves a delicious and timeless dessert.
