Time 1h30m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup textured vegetable protein
1 cup Bulgar wheat
1 cup oatmeal
1 (1/16 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
1 red bell pepper
1 garlic clove
3/4 cup ketchup
3/4 cup boiling water
herbs or spices, of your choice

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Place TVP, bulgur, oatmeal and soup mix in a large bowl.
  • Add boiling water. Stir well. Set aside.
  • Chop pepper and garlic.
  • Add all ingredients except ketchup to the mixture. Let sit a few minutes.
  • Spray a large pan with PAM.
  • Fold mixture into the pan and around edges.
  • Brush with ketchup.
  • Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use a food processor to grind the TVP. This will help to create a more uniform texture and make it easier to mix with the other ingredients.
  • Be sure to soak the TVP in boiling water for at least 10 minutes before using it. This will help to rehydrate the TVP and make it more tender.
  • Add plenty of seasonings to the TVP mixture. This will help to give it flavor and make it more like traditional meatloaf.
  • Don't overmix the TVP mixture. Overmixing can make the meatloaf tough.
  • Bake the meatloaf in a loaf pan at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 45-60 minutes. Or until it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let the meatloaf cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving. This will help to keep the meatloaf from falling apart.

Conclusion:

TVP meatloaf is a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional meatloaf. It is made with simple ingredients and can be easily customized to your liking. It is a great option for vegans, vegetarians, and anyone else who is looking for a healthier way to enjoy meatloaf.
