Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet chocolate.
  • If you don't have a double boiler, you can melt the chocolate and butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until the chocolate and butter are melted and smooth.
  • To make the toffee layer, be sure to use a heavy-bottomed saucepan. This will help prevent the toffee from burning.
  • When making the pecan filling, be sure to toast the pecans before adding them to the mixture. This will bring out their flavor.
  • If you don't have a 9x13 inch baking pan, you can use a 10x15 inch baking pan. Just be sure to adjust the baking time accordingly.
  • Let the turtle squares cool completely before cutting them into bars. This will help them hold their shape.

Conclusion:

Turtle squares are a delicious and decadent dessert that are perfect for any occasion. They're easy to make and can be tailored to your own preferences. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, give turtle squares a try!
