Number Of Ingredients 9

1/4 c plus 2 tablespoons caramel ice cream topping, divided
1 c canned pumpkin
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 graham cracker pie crust
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 c plus 2 tablespoons pecan pieces, divided
1 tube(s) (8oz) cool whip whipped topping
1 c cold milk
2 pkg vanilla instant pudding

Steps:

  • 1. Pour 1/4 cup caramel topping into crust; sprinkle with 1/2 cup pecans.
  • 2. Beat milk, pudding mixes, pumpkin and spices with whisk until blended. Stir in 1 1/2 cups cool whip. Spread into crust.
  • 3. Refrigerate at least 1 hour. Top with remaining cool whip, caramel topping, and pecans just before serving.

Tips:

  • For the perfect flaky crust, make sure to use cold butter and ice water. This will help prevent the gluten from developing too much, which can make the crust tough.
  • Don't overmix the dough. The more you mix it, the tougher the crust will be.
  • When rolling out the dough, be sure to do so on a lightly floured surface. This will prevent the dough from sticking.
  • If you don't have a pie plate, you can use a deep dish baking dish instead.
  • To prevent the crust from shrinking, be sure to trim the edges before baking.
  • For a golden brown crust, brush the top with milk or an egg wash before baking.
  • Let the pie cool completely before serving. This will allow the filling to set and the flavors to meld.

Conclusion:

Turtle pumpkin pie is a delicious and festive dessert that is perfect for fall gatherings. With its creamy pumpkin filling, rich chocolate ganache, and crunchy pecans, this pie is sure to be a hit with everyone at the table. Whether you're a seasoned baker or a novice in the kitchen, this recipe is easy to follow and will produce a beautiful and delicious pie that you'll be proud to serve.
