Thank you to Barbara Kiebel for sharing this delicious version of one of my favorite...

Sandwich bread
Sliced turkey meat, to taste
Cream cheese, to taste
Cranberry sauce, to taste
Alfalfa sprouts, to taste
Roasted sunflower seeds, to taste
Mayonnaise, to taste

Steps:

  • Smear some mayonnaise on bottom bread slice and season with a small amount of salt. Layer turkey on top of mayonnaise,. To slice turkey, remove the breast from the turkey and then slice perpendicular to the bottom where the bone was, results in great, tender slices of meat. Either spread soft cream cheese or place slices from regular cream cheese on top of turkey, don't skimp here. Dollop generous spoonful of cranberry sauce on top of turkey and spread to edges. I use whatever version I've made for the holiday, including my Merlot, Molasses and Toasted Walnut version. Put a small handful of alfalfa sprouts on top of sauce. Sprinkle with toasted sunflower seeds and top with bread slice. Cut in half and serve with chips and or pickle spears.

TURKEY SANDWICHES WITH DRIED CRANBERRIES AND CREAM CHEESE

Turkey Sandwiches With Dried Cranberries and Cream Cheese image

Local recipe. Local [stolen] recipe... Original sandwich is served on sourdough bread although multi-grain is good, too! Use either your own roasted turkey or rotisserie roasted turkey from the grocery store, but NOT packaged deli meat. The cashews are stirred into the cream cheese mixture in the original recipe but I added them separately.

TURKEY CRANBERRY SANDWICH

Turkey Cranberry Sandwich image

I think that my three favorite things about Thanksgiving are family time, the meal and LEFTOVERS! This is the perfect sandwich to refuel after shopping. I really liked the cream cheese addition. It really complements the turkey and cranberry.

Provided by Vickie Parks

Categories     Sandwiches

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 slice bread
2 Tbsp cream cheese, softened
2 Tbsp cranberry sauce (I use my homemade cranberry relish)
1 Tbsp low-fat mayonnaise (optional--I usually omit it, but most of my family prefers it)
2 slice cooked turkey (great use of your leftover thanksgiving turkey)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 romaine lettuce leaf

Steps:

  • 1. Lightly toast both slices of bread. Spread cream cheese on both halves while bread is still hot, so the cream cheese melts justly slightly. Add mayonnaise, if you wish.
  • 2. Spread cranberry sauce on both slices of toasted bread with cranberry sauce (or cranberry relish).
  • 3. Top one toasted slice with cooked turkey meat and season with salt and pepper. Then top with Romaine lettuce leaf. Place the other slice of bread over the Romaine lettuce. Cut the sandwich in half diagonally.
  • 4. Serve with re-heated leftover Thanksgiving stuffing or re-heated mashed potatoes and gravy.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh, high-quality ingredients: This will make all the difference in the flavor of your sandwich. Look for fresh, ripe cranberries, crisp lettuce, and creamy cream cheese.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different flavors: There are endless possibilities when it comes to creating a turkey cranberry sandwich. Try adding different cheeses, such as cheddar or Gouda, or different spreads, such as hummus or avocado.
  • Make your sandwich ahead of time: This is a great option if you're short on time in the morning. Simply assemble the sandwich and wrap it tightly in plastic wrap. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. When you're ready to eat, take it out of the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving.
  • Serve your sandwich with your favorite sides: Some popular options include chips, fruit salad, or a simple green salad.

Conclusion:

The turkey cranberry and cream cheese sandwich is a classic for a reason. It's a delicious and easy-to-make sandwich that's perfect for lunch, dinner, or a snack. With so many different variations, there's sure to be a turkey cranberry sandwich that everyone will enjoy. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give this sandwich a try. You won't be disappointed.
