Tips:

  • Choose high-quality turkey: Opt for ground turkey that is fresh and lean, with a fat content of 90% or less. This will ensure a healthier and tastier chili soup.
  • Use a variety of beans: Incorporate different types of beans, such as black beans, kidney beans, and pinto beans, to add texture, flavor, and nutritional value to the soup.
  • Roast the vegetables: Roasting the vegetables prior to adding them to the soup enhances their natural sweetness and depth of flavor. Roast them at a high temperature for about 20-25 minutes, or until slightly charred.
  • Add spices and seasonings: Experiment with a blend of spices and seasonings to create a flavorful chili soup base. Common choices include chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, and garlic powder.
  • Simmer for a rich flavor: Allow the chili soup to simmer for at least 30 minutes, or up to several hours, to develop a rich and complex flavor profile. Simmering also helps tenderize the meat and vegetables.
  • Garnish before serving: Enhance the presentation and flavor of the chili soup by garnishing it with fresh herbs, such as cilantro or green onions, shredded cheese, sour cream, and avocado slices.
