1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1 dash nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
salt and pepper
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 tomatoes, chopped
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 dash saffron
1 dash cinnamon
1 dash pepper
1/2 cup tomato juice

  • Put the meat, steamed tomatoes and onions and all remaining seasonings into a pot along with the tomato juice. Cover tightly and simmer gently for 30 minutes.
  • Yield:16 meatballs. One serving equals 2 meatballs.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ground beef. This will ensure that your meatballs are flavorful and juicy. Look for ground beef that is at least 80% lean.
  • Add some spices to the ground beef. This will help to flavor the meatballs and make them more interesting. Some good options include cumin, coriander, paprika, and garlic powder.
  • Don't overwork the ground beef. Overworking the beef will make it tough. Mix the ingredients together just until they are combined, then form them into meatballs.
  • Cook the meatballs in a hot pan. This will help to brown them and keep them from falling apart. Cook the meatballs for about 5 minutes per side, or until they are cooked through.
  • Serve the meatballs with your favorite sauce. A classic tomato sauce is a great option, but you can also try a creamy Alfredo sauce or a spicy harissa sauce. Or, try the sauce included with the Tunisian Meatballs recipe provided by AliceRecipes.
