I have have a dog with bad allergies so he eats a grain free diet. I love to make my animals' treats so this was today's adventure. They are in the oven now. I'll update when they have cooled but I can tell you the fur kids loved the batter!

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup buckwheat flour
1/2 cup dried garbanzo beans (ground into flour)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg
6 ounces tuna
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup water

Steps:

  • preheat oven to 350.
  • combine dry in med bowl.
  • mix tuna, egg and oil in mixer on med speed.
  • slowly add dry to wet.
  • add enough water to make cake batter consistency.
  • grease 13x9 pan with olive oil or canola oil (not veggie or corn!).
  • spread batter in pan evenly.
  • bake for 1hr.
  • remove pan and slice into 1" squares but do not remove from pan.
  • lower oven temp to 250 and bake for 45-60min more.

2 Tbsp coconut flour
1 egg
2 tbsps. olive oil

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350℉ and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Without draining it, add the entire can of tuna to the food processor. Use the pulse function to finely chop the tuna.
  • Combine the tuna, coconut flour, and egg in a mixing bowl until a dough forms. Once combined, add in the olive oil and mix it in evenly as well.
  • Use a teaspoon or tablespoon to scoop out some of the dough (depending on how large you want the treats to be), then roll it into balls.
  • Place the balls onto the baking sheet and use a fork to flatten them out.
  • Bake the treats for 10-15 minutes, or about 5 minutes longer if you want them to be crispier.
  • Remove them from the oven and let them cool before giving them to your cat.

1/4 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
