***tips*** can also use canned boneless salmon in place of tuna. can use the tuna mixture with crackers as a great appetizer or snack too..

Steps:

  • 1. Cook pasta according to package directions; rinse in cold water and drain. In a bowl, combine mayonnaise and sugar. Stir in tuna, celery, onions, green pepper, carrot and parsley. Spoon into pasta shells; cover and refrigerate.
  • 2. For the dressing, combine sour cream, sugar, vinegar, mayonnaise, celery seed and onion powder.
  • 3. Arrange lettuce, onion rings and shells on a serving platter; drizzle with dressing
  • 4. 25 minutes prep time plus time for chilling.

Tips:

  • Choose the right type of pasta shells. Jumbo shells are the traditional choice for this dish, but you can also use other large pasta shells, such as conchiglie or rigatoni.
  • Cook the pasta shells al dente. This means cooking them until they are tender but still have a slight bite to them. Overcooked pasta shells will be mushy and difficult to stuff.
  • Use a variety of fillings. The tuna filling in this recipe is just one option. You can also use other fillings, such as ricotta cheese, spinach, or ground beef.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different sauces. The tomato sauce in this recipe is a classic, but you can also use other sauces, such as Alfredo sauce, pesto sauce, or even a simple butter sauce.
  • Top the shells with cheese before baking. This will help to create a golden brown crust and add extra flavor to the dish.

Conclusion:

Tuna stuffed jumbo shells are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. With a variety of fillings and sauces to choose from, there are endless possibilities for this dish. So experiment and find your favorite combination!
