Steps:
- Cut the tuna into pieces 3/4 inch square, and 4 inces long.
- Spread each stick of tuna lightly with the wasabi paste, then roll lightly in the fresh herbs.
- Wrap each of these in a spring roll wrapper, moistening the edges with a littlewater to seal.
- Deep fry the spring rolls 2 or 3 at a time for 30-45 seconds-or until lightly golden-they will still be quite rare when you eat them.
- Drain on absorbent paper.
- Combine the lime juice and soy, and serve alongside the tuna in small dipping bowls.
Tips:
- Use fresh ingredients: The fresher the ingredients, the better the spring rolls will taste. Look for vibrant, crisp vegetables and high-quality tuna.
- Choose the right rice paper: There are two main types of rice paper: thick and thin. Thick rice paper is easier to work with, while thin rice paper is more delicate and gives a crispier texture. For this recipe, thick rice paper is recommended.
- Soak the rice paper properly: Before using the rice paper, it needs to be soaked in warm water until it becomes soft and pliable. The amount of time needed to soak the rice paper will vary depending on the thickness of the paper. Be careful not to over-soak the rice paper, or it will become too soft and difficult to work with.
- Fill the spring rolls evenly: When filling the spring rolls, be sure to distribute the ingredients evenly so that each bite has a bit of everything.
- Roll the spring rolls tightly: Once the spring rolls are filled, they need to be rolled tightly so that they hold their shape. Start by folding the bottom edge of the rice paper up over the filling, then fold in the sides, and finally roll up the spring roll from the bottom to the top.
- Cook the spring rolls properly: Spring rolls can be cooked in a variety of ways, including frying, baking, or steaming. Frying is the most traditional method, but baking or steaming is a healthier option. No matter which method you choose, be sure to cook the spring rolls until they are golden brown and crispy.
Conclusion:
Tuna spring rolls are a delicious and versatile appetizer or snack. They are easy to make and can be customized to your own liking. With fresh ingredients, the right rice paper, and careful preparation, you can make tuna spring rolls that are sure to impress your friends and family.
