PENNE AND TUNA PASTA SALAD

Penne and Tuna Pasta Salad image

I was in search for a pasta salad that had tuna in it....I came across a recipe that I thought would be perfect but made so many changes I had to post it as a new recipe. I hope you like this recipe as much as I did. Cook time equals cook time for pasta. Prep time is the time it takes to assemble the rest of the ingredient with the cooked pasta.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality tuna: Opt for tuna packed in olive oil or water, and avoid tuna packed in vegetable oil, as it can be less flavorful and have a higher saturated fat content.
  • Cook the pasta al dente: Al dente pasta has a slight bite to it, which will help it hold its shape in the salad and prevent it from becoming mushy.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: This will add color, texture, and flavor to the salad. Some good options include cherry tomatoes, cucumber, bell pepper, red onion, and zucchini.
  • Don't overdress the salad: A light dressing will help to coat the pasta and vegetables without weighing them down. Use a ratio of about 1 part vinegar or lemon juice to 3 parts olive oil.
  • Let the salad marinate: Marinating the salad for at least 30 minutes will allow the flavors to meld together. You can also marinate the salad overnight for even better flavor.

Conclusion:

Tuna penne pasta salad is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a light lunch or dinner. It is also a great way to use up leftover tuna. With its combination of protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats, this salad is a well-balanced meal that will keep you satisfied.
